They're showing Deadpool too I remember when I was in high school, one of our drive-ins played all the Planet of the Apes movies in order. We were up all night partying.

Oh yeah, those theme nights were great. I remember they showed The Song Remains The Same with the '73 Hendrix doc/movie. Saw The Blues Brothers first run there in 1980 too. I think I've mentioned it but our drive-in also showed porno you ain't seen porno til you seen it at a drive-in

That's cool But they still want nine bucks? Jeez $9 a carload I don’t know if I could enjoy a drive-in any more unless I was in a giant, comfy car. There was a time sitting with four other guys in a Maverick in late November drinking Old Milwaukee pounders had it’s charm, but I’m not exactly too keen on trying to recapture that moment.

I have memories of being a preschooler, and being taken to the drive-in by my parents. I was in my pajamas and (I think) a robe with slippers. There was a playground with swings and monkey bars there, and my parents would drop me off to play completely unsupervised by any other adults...there were only kids like me in their jammies. At some point, it would get dark enough and the movies would start. Then my mom or dad would come back for me. I bet the concept of a pedophile or some other predator never even crossed their minds...just like seat belts. Times were different.

I hear ya. Crappy sound through those speakers unless it comes through the car radio. Crappy image that you struggle to see through the windshield. If you're in the back seat, forget it. Best times at drive-ins were taking your girlfriend there and basically spending the night. Bonus points for old cars with bench seats. It was like a cheap hotel. At 5AM there were still 5-10% of the cars there...with steamed up windows.

The drive-in isn't open in late November silly :slapfight: but I hear ya. When we were teenagers we always brought fold out lawn chairs so we could spread out. If the entire group was in the car together it was only to smoke a joint. When I was younger we had a giant station wagon that they'd pull in backwards and we watched out the back.

I remember seeing the double feature of The Apple Dumpling Gang and Escape To Witch Mountain

The back bench seat folded forward and down, creating a large flat area in the back. Like a little hotel room Next car I had was a VW bug

There she is! Perfect for the drive-in or enough room for 4 hockey players and their bags.

Closest I got was a friend with a square back, not really the same thing at all.

There she is! Perfect for the drive-in or enough room for 4 hockey players and their bags. Before I got my license, my friend Dave drove some old giant station wagon that belonged to his dad. It was like the Vista Cruiser on 'That '70s Show.' Not sure what it was, but it had 2 bench seats in back + front seats (I think bench too) and storage...the thing was enormous and got like 5 miles per gallon and burned oil like crazy. We'd fill that with kids and go to the drive-in all the time. We took it to Tahoe once too. Fit like 10 people pretty comfortably.

Well, a VW Bug is not exactly the best car for New England. Having no heat in the winter really sucked and you can't take it off-road where the parties were. Any cooler full of ice you put in the back immediately began to melt since the engine's in the back. Very little room for doing it too, of course. The radio was terrible with one little speaker. But I did have some good times in it! My next car was a '72 Nova. Much more fun!
