Going back to TOS, I am getting a bit fed up of the violins playing every time Kirk sees a beautiful woman

I imagine every script had the rule that it had to have a situation where the soundtrack fit. I remember Eddie Murphy joked about Kirk doing it with a green woman, and he used ST's "Fighting" music as he mimicked thrusting his hips.

Pretty much. (Recent Conversation) Other Person: What are you watching? Me: Star Trek: Discovery. Other Person: Is it any good? Me: No, it's awful. Other Person: Well then why are you watching it? Me: Cuz it's Star Trek. Duh. I'll be watching this too.Is it really that bad? I don't have Netflix so I miss out on all this modern stuff. I was considering getting it on Blu-Ray after the price comes down. Should I give it a miss?
Recently finished up Enterprise and I have to say, it was pretty good. Maybe not the last episode which was completely ruined by Ryker and Troi, and the spectacularly naff demise of Trip, but the rest was good.
I have concerns over the Picard series. What sort of arty nonsense are they going to shoehorn in? I half expect him to have retired from Star Fleet and spend his days tending to his vineyard
It's almost unwatchable. The writing is terrible. And everything has a simple resolution that is almost always completely unbelievable. It's insulting. The odd thing is that you can tell they have a big budget for this show. The sets are great. The camera movements are impressive. The special effects are pretty good...not great...but good enough. They spent money on the actors, and they do a good job. One cool thing that this series introduced is a black ops division of Star Trek (Section 31). I like the concept, and it's becoming yet another Star Trek series. link--- I enjoyed Enterprise.

But... I'm not ready to re-watch TNG, DS9 or Voyager. Guess I'll have to go read a book...

Yes, one soundtrack for each episode. The one that made my laugh was when the violin music started playing with the "beautiful woman" on screen. The shot then cuts to Spock, when you were expecting it to cut to Kirk. It was very funny (intentional or not).
Ep: "This Side of Paradise" S1.

Have you seen Babylon 5? I saw a few episodes but couldn't into it. Is it worth watching?

I also tried watching Andromeda but couldn't get past the first season. That Nietzschean guy and the furry guy who ate himself really pissed me off.

I'd like to see these two series in their entirety some day.

I watched a few episodes of Invaders recently. It's not terrible, just a little boring. I remember Space 1999 was a bit naff but watchable. I re-watched most of those about 15 years ago.

I liked Space 1999. Unfortunately, it's another one of those shows that capitalized on the public's irrational fear of nuclear energy like the movie China Syndrome, and right in between the '73 and '79 oil crises...talk about ironic.

When I re-watched those episodes, the first thing that came to mind was it seemed so much better as a kid. But it had some good storylines in some of the episodes.
I was a teenager the first time I watch Invaders. Now that was a great show for a 15 year old. It's a shame they never finished it. My mother and I watched every episode, 1 a week, from start to finish. That was in the days BBC2 always showed something sci-fi at 6:30 on a Thursday
