Everyone is welcome to play. If you're not a member, sign-up is easy; just do it and start playing immediately. We want more players.
Overview
-Find a way of obscuring a comic book. You decide how and what you'll do. You can use a camera, Paint, Gimp, Photoshop, etc.
-Post a pic in this thread (Submission).
-Everyone guesses.
-Keep revealing more until it's identified (Solution).
-The one who identifies it puts up the next pic or allows someone else to do it.
-For those who are playing for money, the game is worth $5 per solution and $10 per submission.
-There are speed rules in effect to keep the game moving quickly and avoid stalls.
This game is designed to be a major earnings supplement to the VCG (Virtual Collector Game). Because of this, there are strict rules in place to maximize the number of player payouts per day.
Definitions
Submission: the first clue (round) of a new comic book
Solution: identification of a comic book
Round: new clue
Open: anyone can make the next submission
Turbo Mode 1: 9 AM to 9 PM Pacific time (M-F)
Turbo Mode 2: 9 AM to 9 PM Pacific time (Weekends)
Payout: amount earned in dollars
Running Totals: a post listing each player's current payouts
Goals
-Maximize the number of player payouts per day
-New rounds posted every 10-45 minutes
-New submissions posted within 10-45 minutes of last solution
Rules
1) Payouts are worth $5 per solution and $10 per submission.
2) Payouts occur only when a submission is solved.
3) Players are individually responsible for logging their payouts by updating the 'Running Totals' post with a quote. Players who are just playing for fun don't need to worry about this.
4) Players who solve a submission earn the right to make the next submission. They must state within the solution post whether they are a) making the next submission, or b) leaving it open.
6) If a player states that they will be making the next submission, they must complete it within 60 minutes or the next submission becomes open.
7) If the next submission is open, the first player to post 'I'll take it.' (or the Smiley) wins the right to make the next submission and must must complete it within 60 minutes or the next submission becomes open again.
8) During Turbo Mode 1, if a player does not provide a new round within 60 minutes, the next submission becomes open.
9) During Turbo Mode 2, if a player does not provide a new round within 2 hours, the next submission becomes open.
10) During Turbo Mode 1 or 2, if a player has provided at least 5 rounds that substantially reveals most of the book except for the title and issue number, the player may reveal the entire book. The submitter can then take the submission payout (the solution payout disappears), and the next submission becomes open to everyone except the submitter. This may be a helpful rule during very slow times or with books that are extremely difficult to solve.
Cash awards to your savings account will happen as often as daily, or whenever I'm available.
Note:
This is just a game on a comic book forum. If you're the current submitter and you suddenly become busy because 'real life' intervenes, DO NOT worry about it. If you have the time to give the other players a 'heads up' that would be great; but if you can't, the speed rules will take care of it.
And if the next submission becomes open because of the speed rules, don't worry about hurting someones feelings by posting an 'I'll take it.' They are probably just busy, and you'll be helping out the rest of the players by keeping the game moving. And their work won't be wasted either, since their next submission can be started with the last round they posted.
