I wonder if Oakman will see this comment. No matter. No, Oakman, Dice has proven himself to NOT be a "good man", by his words and by his actions. "Good men" don't silence criticism. "Good men" acknowledge when they've up. "Good men" don't behave irrationally. Whatever good reputation "DiceX" may have had has been completely tossed in the trash...by HIM...to become a company man. Nothing more, and nothing less. You don't spin books around on ANY surface, for ANY reason, EVER. PERIOD. It SCUFFS the ink, unless you're doing it on a surface like glass or soft plastic, and even then you risk catching an edge or corner on something. Take a look at a backing board...a "smooth surface"...with a book that has been in a comic store's back issue section for a while. Find a book with an inked back cover (as opposed to the standard white of most books until the early 90') and then look at the board, especially at the staple areas. What do you see...? Often, you'll see ink rub/transfer. That's the ink being rubbed off the book, and onto the board. A board that is theoretically supposed to protect the book, and is nearly always a smoother surface than any table. Eventually, given enough friction, all the ink in the rubbed area will be removed. Is this going to happen with the Avengers #4? No, at least, not right away. But, so what? Why even risk it? If that book is a 4.0-6.0, it's an $800-$1600 book. Who, besides someone who doesn't know what they're doing, or doesn't care, would treat ANY book this way, much less a book worth $1,000 or more...? It's rank amateur hour. You simply DO NOT handle books like this. I've seen YouTube videos of people roughly handling books, and it makes me cringe...but those people aren't pretending to be professionals, and worse, professional RESTORERS, whose very job it is to IMPROVE a book's condition, not damage it further with careless handling like this. Also, caught this example 10,234 of Dip 510's idiocy before the thread was deleted: "I guess you've never been to a con and seen dealers treat their own books 10 times worse than this. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill." Read what you wrote slowly and carefully. Here, I'll highlight the important bits, the DISTINCTION between this issue, and the one you describe: "I guess you've never been to a con and seen dealers treat their own books 10 times worse than this. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill." Do you see the distinction? You can treat YOUR OWN BOOKS any damn way you feel like: they're YOUR OWN BOOKS. You should NOT, however, be treating OTHER PEOPLE'S books the way Ricketts is doing. Have you had a traumatic brain injury in the last two years or something...? Were you always this blindingly stupid? I don't get it.

Weird, after I saw your post I looked and was able to read the 1st page. Last post was yours saying Lizards spoiled the Stu-fest we started,to get silly, boobs and the gay seal were thrown around I think that gay seal thing is hilarious. I get threatened by a moderator for posting a pic of Maggie Cho doing her famous "Are You Da Gay??" line on it, because, you know, that's insensitive to the gay members of the boards (because Maggie Cho is such an opponent of gay rights, you see), and then when I scold that moderator for abusing her authority by just assuming it was an "anti-gay slur", I get a strike, but you guys post that gay seal, and pffft. Nothing.

I would hope that Logan510 or anyone that thinks that the questioning or critical responses to the spinning book were much ado about nothing or simply an attack on Dice(or CBCS) would ask themselves why those comments were deleted as well as the video itself. I think the realization finally hit that the handling of the book stirred up concern from quite a few people and was creating negative attention to their service.
No one said the book was harmed, only that the chances of harm increase from the handling seen in the video.

You get a raw deal over there Squish..when did the strike you're talking about happen?Do you think the moderator was punishing you for a remark people got all bummed out over several years ago?

You get a raw deal over there Squish..when did the strike you're talking about happen?Do you think the moderator was punishing you for a remark people got all bummed out over several years ago? Essentially, some busybody mod (in this case, Mod0, who is almost certainly female) got her nose bent out of joint at what she imagined was a "gay slur", so she haughtily sent me a warning by PM that "there are gay members here, they deserve to be comfortable (how's THAT for SJW activism for you...?), and that kind of thing will not be tolerated"...without even ASKING what I meant by posting a meme of MARGARET EFFING CHO, quite possibly the most gay-friendly comedian that exists. This is your basic, garden variety abuse of authority: shoot first, never ask questions. Now tell me...what sort of civil society is it where the authorities, whomever they may be, simply presume guilt, without even asking? None. In any event, I scolded this stupid mod in that PM for this behavior...which was absolutely appropriate...and I got a strike for "hostile tone." Lesson: don't you DARE...DON'T YOU DARE...scold a mod for abusing her authority. Tinpot tyrants. Thank God these fools have no real power. This mentality wiped out an entire generation of French nobility and aristocracy in the 1790's, and plunged the most powerful nation on earth into a spiral of war and destruction from which it has never recovered. If the 20th was the US century, and the 19th was the British, the 18th was most certainly the French.

New Guinea is next It sucks when the accusation is far worse than the statement. Co-Worker #1: "What's that on your shirt?" Co-Worker #2, looking down and remembering they walked by the groundskeeper as he mowed the lawn outside: "Just a little grass." Co-Worker #3 hearing this from their cubicle: "I'd better report this guy to management for bringing drugs to work." Context, people!
