I've just realised US rules are different to UK rules.
Some differences:
- Depending on the region, you only get to place the cue ball in a "D" or behind the line.
- There's no penalty for not hitting a cushion following a shot. Snookering plays an important part of the game.
- You have to pot one of your own balls if you pot an opponent's, regardless of which one you hit first.
- If you pot a ball on the break, that's your colour.
- The balls are red and yellow, not spots and stripes.
I need to go away and read the rules
Made an avatar. They won't let you upload a pic unless you use your Facebook profile pic. (seems silly).\ Cool Av. I think I might quit playing this game. I spent an hour yesterday playing someone who almost never missed. Once it was their turn, they cleared up. When they couldn't clear up, they snookered me with precision (baring in mind you still have to hit the cushion). It was almost like I was playing a computer...

That's the game...it's very aggressive...and it's both offense and defense. If you sign up you can play yourself (you are both stripes and solids)...great way to learn and practice. Or, you could play me, and I'll let you take shots. I'm actually considering buying a pool table now.

The strange thing is the pockets on this online version are a lot more forgiving than a real table but I still keep losing!
Thanks for the offer Not sure I want to get into it... It's too time consuming!

That's for sure! The one time I got an easy opponent was when I let my daughter play. They weren't very good but she's 6 and hasn't played before. She manged to pocket a few balls before being beaten, however.

On Sunday evening I managed to find an opponent more suited to my style of playing... I beat them 8-2

On Sunday evening I managed to find an opponent more suited to my style of playing... I beat them 8-2 When you sign up, it's not only 10X more fun, but it unlocks statistics that helps gauge opponents. For example, this guy is at level 97 (sounds impressive) but he only shoots a win% of 57.8. I look for people who shoot maybe 10% or more lower than me, and then I try to keep them interested in losing to me so I can rack up $$$ at their expense (I'm saving for a better cue with higher aim).

Do you have to spend money on this?

Do you have to spend money on this? No. I noticed some people buy a bunch of tokens and spend them on cues and unlimited playing, but I like earning them...makes it fun. I bought a wired gaming mouse with high precision (about ten bucks) yesterday. Big difference over the aiming precision of the crappy wireless mouse that I was using before. I'm winning way more games now.

ftfy Good for you. I don't think I've had ice cream in over a year. I used to be addicted to the stuff.

ftfy Good for you. I don't think I've had ice cream in over a year. I used to be addicted to the stuff. I actually don't care for their ice-milk, but it would have been an "excuse" to get something even worse from their menu. But SDCC is approaching, and I really should be doing this anyway.

I used to like chocolate or vanilla soft-serve dipped in chocolate on a hot day. But my favorites have always been Ben & Jerry's (Phish Food, Super New York Fudge Chunk, and a few others). Also liked Tillamook chocolate peanut butter & their mountain huckleberry. Now I seem to like yogurt & fruit just as well.
